How are world-famous images created? Why are they published, and why do they later end up in an archive? In its opening exhibition, Magnum. A World of Photography, the FOTO ARSENAL WIEN explores distribution and archiving strategies using the world-renowned agency Magnum Photos as a case study. Insights into previously undiscovered and otherwise secret work processes, from contact sheets and vintage prints to darkroom work, offer a glimpse into the world of photography.
The exhibition features over 300 exhibits, including contact sheets, slide positives, vintage photographs and books – from Robert Capa, Dennis Stock, Inge Morath , René Burri to Susan Meiselas and Martin Parr.
